Happy PI Day
Today, we’ll discuss the number PI (π), not just it is international PI (π) day, but it has very interesting and useful applications in our daily lives.
What is PI (π):
The number π is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.14159. It has been represented by the Greek letter “π” since the mid-18th century, though it is also sometimes spelled out as “pi“.
Abstract:
Because PI is ratio of circle’s circumference to its diameter, it’s used in many formulae that have association with any type of circle like circle itself, eclipse or spheres. It also has other applications in the fields of statistics, fractals, thermodynamics, mechanics, cosmology, number theory, and electromagnetism.
Real life applications:
Signals:
Radio, TV, Radar, Telephones etc.
Probability:
Estimation, Testing, Simulation.
Navigation:
Global paths, Global positioning.
